I’m taking a break from my myth-busting mission to focus on something that has come to the forefront and that I feel is WAY more important.
I call it “looking under the hood” of our businesses.
Kind of like looking under the hood of a car and seeing what makes it work.
Or not work!
June 30 is my fiscal year-end and it was time to look at the numbers, create new goals, and make plans for the coming year.
Yes a bit too late…but as they say “better late than never”.
When I looked under the hood of my business, what I discovered shocked and surprised me.
And it answered a lot of questions too.
As I started to set my goals for the coming year I soon realized…
… I HAD NOT DONE THIS LAST YEAR! 🙁
Yes, it’s true. In 4 out of 5 revenue streams I had not set any goals.
Well, that was a shocker and an explanation of what I had achieved.
I had achieved exactly what I had achieved.
Which on one hand was good as it was something, but, on the other hand, was not where I wanted to be. And yet I was where I was.
Imagine going on a trip without a destination in mind!
No map. No plan.
That is what a business without a plan is …a road to…wherever.
And wherever is exactly where I ended up.
But not where I wanted to land.
I wanted to land in the place of goals set, actions taken and rewards reaped.
The place of celebration of aching my goals.
Soooo I started setting goals for the yearend June 30, 2021.
By now you are probably wondering, or have already figured out, what does this have to do with me?

I ended up looking at all 5 of my revenue streams and setting goals and sharing them with my coach.
I quickly realized that plans without goals are not workable.
As are goals without plans.
So now that I have goals, I spent some of my time with my coach making plans.
Checking for reasonability, adjusting as necessary, and heading off into the great future.
